The corporation is organized and shall be operated exclusively as a not-for-profit corporation for purposes that are charitable, educational, and scientific within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code of 1986, as amended, or the corresponding provisions of any future united states internal revenue law (the "code"). In furtherance of such charitable purposes, the corporation shall engage in activities for the benefit of, to perform the functions of, and to carry out the purposes of the following healthcare organizations that are affiliated with the corporation through the provision of managerial assistance and facilitation of financial assistance through such entities: carle bromenn medical center and carle eureka hospital.
