Yes. RoundPaper covers nonprofits registered with the IRS in the United States. All data comes from IRS Form 990 filings, which are required of U.S. tax-exempt organizations. International nonprofits and charities outside the U.S. are not included.

The platform is built on IRS Form 990 filings, which are public records filed annually by U.S. tax-exempt organizations. We process data from over 1.8 million organizations, covering compensation, financials, governance, grants, and more. All data comes directly from the IRS e-file system.

We ingest new filings as they become available from the IRS. Most organizations file their 990s within a few months after their fiscal year ends, so there is typically a 6-18 month lag between the end of a fiscal year and when that data appears on our platform. We clearly label the tax year for every data point.

You can ask questions in plain English about nonprofit compensation, financials, governance, and organizational data. For example: "What is the average CEO salary at arts nonprofits with budgets over $5M?" or "Show me the top-paid executives in healthcare nonprofits in California." The AI translates your question into a database query and returns real results.

The AI queries real IRS 990 data directly, so the underlying numbers are from official filings. However, the AI interprets your question to build a query, which means phrasing matters. If a result looks unexpected, try rephrasing your question or being more specific. We always show the query logic so you can verify what was run.

Yes. You can search by organization name or EIN (Employer Identification Number) to see a full profile including financials, compensation data, governance details, and multi-year trends. Just ask Data Chat something like "Show me the profile for [Organization Name]" or search by EIN.

Yes. Your queries, conversations, and account information are private to you. We do not share your usage data with other users or third parties. The underlying 990 data itself is public record, but your interactions with the platform are confidential.
