Legislative activities: provide lobbying, government relations, and legislative awareness services primarily for HMA members (approximately 379), and non-member physicians (up to approx. 2700 additional physicians). Includes introducing health care legislation at the state legislature; providing testimony on proposed legislation; informing physicians, the public, and the government on key health issues.

A. Cme@HMA was suspended in 2024. We shifted to an emphasis on special programs including conversations at HMA, which features physicians and other healthcare leaders being interviewed on various healthcare related subjects. Most of our programing is then made available on the HMA youtube channel. Programs are usually held onsite and via zoom. Supports quality patient care through appropriate and timely education for physicians, with information about current and vital issures of medicine and medical practice for doctors of medicine and ostepathy in hawaii and the pacific basin. Approximately 150 persons participated in these programs in 2024. In 2024 we expanded our collaboration with clinical care options to scale online cme and continued to deliver discounted, dea mate ACT-compliant offerings statewide.b. The hawaii medical association (HMA) and the washington state medical association (wsma) started a new collaboration, called pacwest continuing education accreditation collaborative(pceac), which was formed to support the state medical society (SMS) accreditation programs accross the northwest and pacific. The collaboration went into effect january 1, 2023. Accreditation decisons for currently HMA- or wsma-accredited providers in alaska, american samoa, guam, hawaii, oregon, and washington will now be made through one collaborative of surveyors and committee members from accross the northwest and pacific. Accme will continue to provide support and oversight of the new entity through the recognition process. C. As of january 1, 2023, HMA has a collaboration with hawaii pacific health as a point provider for cme's, although we have suspended the program in 2024.d. HMA started a podcast progrm in 2022 entitled, HMA connect, brining interviews with physicians and other important to the profession of physicians, including the interviews for the 2022 hawaii elections.e. HMA started a new live-video program, conversations at HMA, in 2023 featured interviews and discussions with physicians and other healthcare leaders on a variety of topics of interest especially to physicians and patients. Many of these, along with past cme programs, are also available on the new HMA youtube channel.

The annual meeting was held on october 19, 2024, with 30 members and staff present. There are up to 20 voting members on the HMA council.
