The foundation was established to provide financial support to designated public charities, with all grants made to further charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes. As of this final return, the foundation has permanently ceased operations and is terminating its private foundation status. In alignment with its original mission, all remaining assets are being distributed to the community foundation for northern virginia (cfnova), a qualified public charity under irc section 501(c)(3), pursuant to irc section 507(b)(1)(a). The foundation's legacy of charitable giving, including support for initiatives connected with friends of the hollow, will continue through cfnova's stewardship.
