The good planet is focused on upskilling the collective workforces of its supported organizations to recycle items with an initial focus on imploding glass and shredding plastics, followed by a focus on textiles. The good planet's impact is defined by the number of low-to-moderate-income (lmi) team members of the supported goodwill organizations who are able to build better lives through the mission of the good planet and through its ability to provide sustainable solutions for the millions of pounds of plastics and glass that aren't able to be sold in the 68 retail stores of the supported goodwill organizations throughout delaware county, pennsylvania, the state of delaware, the chesapeake area of maryland, the district of columbia and northern virginia. The three goodwills that are supported by the good planet utilized $1 million in funding from truist charitable fund to train 1,500 of their retail team members in recycling solutions, purchase three glass imploding machines and explore further recycling operations. The good planet is supporting all of those activities. Further, with support of the good planet, the three goodwills co-hosted with goodwill industries international a sustainability summit where more than 200 individuals representing nearly 70 goodwills across north america learned about industry experts, shared key learnings, and developed plans to adopt sustainability practices.
