The foundation provides relief and hardship assistance to members of the communities in which alterra mountain company, an affiliated organization, serves. Support and relief are provided to victims of disasters or those in emergency hardship situations such as those caused by pandemics, floods, fires, riots, storms, or similar large-scale events. The foundation also provides assistance to those in need due to a sudden illness, death, accident, violent crime or other emergency hardship. Grants are available to individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

The foundation supports mental health initiatives in mountain communities, focusing on four primary programs: (1) grants to mountain community screenings of "the paradise paradox, a film that explores the mental health crises affecting america's mountain towns and the innovative solutions being developed in response; (2) specialized psychotherapy grants for first responders in the mountains: ski patrol, bike patrol and heli guides; (3) optimization of behavioral health access to facilitate convenings of ikon pass community partners to energize efforts to improve local mental healthcare systems; and (4) creating a toolkit for all ikon pass resorts that will provide resources on topics including suicide prevention, substance abuse, experienced trauma, grief, sexual consent, homesickness, and more .
