Building construction was delayed due to one electrical component until early spring. April 1 2024 we opened our doors and veterans began moving in. In august of 2024 we achieved full occupancy of our 34-unit complex, serving low-income veterans and expanding our reach to veterans across marion and polk counties. Our peer support specialist and resource navigator provided over 1,100 hours of direct peer support and assistance connecting veterans to VA benefits, employment, education, and healthcare resources. Through our shuttle program, residents completed more than 75 medical trips and 89 shopping trips. We organized 12 financial education classes, facilitated 6 new job placements, and distributed food boxes and holiday meals in partnership with marion-polk food share and local church pantries. In addition, courtney place held veteran outings with VFW post 661 and american legion partners to foster camaraderie and belonging. Through our partnership with the family YMCA of marion & polk counties, residents received free YMCA memberships and access to evidence-based health programs such as livestrong, pedaling for parkinson's, and the diabetes prevention program. These efforts collectively advanced our mission of supporting veterans' housing stability, well-being, and independence while building a stronger, healthier veteran community.
