In 2024 NPH Action Fund and its Political Issues Committee supported and helped pass Proposition 1, which generated $2 billion in funding statewide for behavioral health and affordable housing. We lobbied successfully for the passage of Assembly Constitutional Amendment 10, which became Prop. 5 on the state ballot. We supported the passage of San Francisco Proposition A, which delivered $310M in affordable housing funding. In coalition, we launched a grassroots lobbying campaign to win funding in the state budget, including $500M in state tax credits. We also conducted survey research to inform local and state affordable housing campaigns and shared this information with key stakeholders. We engaged with other sector partners through the Bay Area Housing for All Coalition to keep housers and allied groups informed of electoral and lobbying developments.As part of our multi-year effort that culminated in 2024, NPH Action Fund and its Political Issues Committee embarked on an audacious plan to pass a state constitutional amendment, Proposition 5, and regional affordable housing bond, Regional Measure 4. We built a strong and durable coalition of affordable housing advocates both at the state and the regional level that will continue to be deeply engaged. We conducted voter outreach to hundreds of thousands of Bay Area voters and millions of voters across the state, reaching diverse communities with outreach in multiple languages. Due to a variety of factors, Proposition 5 was defeated with 45% of the yes vote, and the regional affordable housing bond was withdrawn given these challenges. Despite these losses, we established a durable and broad multi-stakeholder coalition. We grew our expertise, shared learning and partnerships, and deepened relationships for future work and campaigns together, particularly among advocates, community groups, and the philanthropy community.
