MiLEAP Grant: The Alliance coordinates and supports 25 YMCAs in 165 program sites to deliver academic enrichment programs during out of school time. Program sites were selected by free and reduced lunch data in their communities. Programming was aimed to support children emerging from school closure during COVID to prepare them for a successful return to the classroom. Over 15,000 children we received out of school time programming through this grant program.

Youth in Government (YIG): Is a civic education program for middle and high school students. The State Alliance YIG staff partners with schools throughout Michigan, supporting teacher advisors to meet with groups of students in a school club setting. The program teachers students to write mock bills and educates them on all aspects of the legislative process and promotes lifelong civic engagement. The Alliance provides financial assistance to schools and students for their registration fees for the program (approx. 90% scholarship). Student participants are selected by teacher advisors to participate in the program. Over 1400 youth were served during this year long program.

HOST: The Alliance supports 25 YMCAs worked with 120 before and/or afterschool program sites. Over 9,000 students have participated in the before and/or after school programs to date, and received program support using Catch, SPARK or Food & Fun curriculum. In addition, a fundamental focus on nutrition ensures that feeding is a component of this program. The Alliance is the fiduciary of the funds allocated by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
