These hospitals include Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Dallas, Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Frisco, Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Lakeway. BIR is affiliated with Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), a faith-based nationally acclaimed network of acute care hospitals and related health care entities providing quality patient care, medical education, medical research and other community services to the residents of North and Central Texas. As the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, BSWH was born from the 2013 combination of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare. Today, BSWH has over 1,300 patient access points including 52 hospitals, 632 specialty care clinics, 260 outpatient clinics, 164 primary care clinics, 29 pharmacies, 30 ambulatory surgery centers, 62 urgent care clinics, and more than 7,200 active physicians. BIR provided community benefits (as reported on the IRS Form 990, Schedule H) of $4,544,998 during the tax year.Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Dallas (BSW Rehab Dallas) is located on the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas main campus just outside of downtown Dallas. BSW Rehab Dallas is BIR's flagship rehabilitation facility. As one of only 16 centers in the nation designated as a Model System for Traumatic Brain Injury, BSW Rehab Dallas has the advanced capabilities necessary to treat some of the most complex rehabilitation cases, including low level brain injuries, high quadriplegics and traumatically injured individuals. The 92-bed inpatient facility offers 24-hour respiratory care services and specialized programs for traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. Our goal is to restore each patient's independence, self-confidence and vision of the future after a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke or other orthopedic or neurological disorder. Each patient's care plan is custom-designed by a physiatrist-led interdisciplinary team of licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, certified recreation therapists, neuropsychologists, rehabilitation registered nurses, nutritionists, social workers and other specialized clinicians. BSW Rehab Dallas also participates in community health programs and outreach programs targeted for the underserved. For example, a special day camp with adaptive water sports is provided for area residents with spinal cord injuries. Injury prevention programs are also provided to schools, churches, and community centers. BIR also provided supervisory education programs for the training of future nurses and other allied health professionals in an effort to increase the supply of health care professionals nation-wide. Assisting with the preparation of future nurses and other allied health professionals at entry and advanced levels of care education is critical in establishing a workforce of qualified health care providers. Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Lakeway is a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital that provides a safe, cheerful environment where patients benefit from our compassionate and professional round-the-clock care. While the name may be new - the dedicated medical and support staff remain the same. Our licensed therapists and nurses are committed to helping patients regain skills lost through injury or illness and can easily accommodate the individualized therapy and nursing needs of every patient.
