The mission of ElderCare of Alachua County is to be an advocate for the elderly and provide services that will build capacity, maximize independence and enrich the quality of life for the seniors in Alachua County. The services offered range from community based services that allow the more active seniors the ability to partake in health education, preventative screenings, physical fitness activities, arts and cultural activities, nutritional services, social and volunteer opportunities while our home-based services assist individuals in performing instrumental activities of daily living allowing them to age in place, in their own home. The pillar services provided through ElderCare of Alachua County include management of the senior recreation center, Al'z Place adult daycare center for clients with dementia, Independence with Low Vision, Meals on Wheels, Case Management, and various other community and home-based services.

What They Do

Elder care, designated as the lead agency provider for alachua county by the department of elder affairs, provides home and community based services including transportation, homemaking, personal care, emergency alert systems, congregate and home delivered meals, nutrition education, respite for caregivers, and case management. Adults with visual impairments are served through the independence with low vision program. Services for adults with alzheimer's disease or severe memory impairments are provided through the adult day care center known as alz place. This year, elder care served 22,216 congregate meals at our adult day care center or at one of five meal sites throughout alachua county, 48,069 home-delivered meals to homebound seniors, 17,107 hours of daycare for alzheimer patients, 2,521 rides, 22,572 hours of homemaking services, 33,574 hours of respite service, 12,016 hours of personal care, 12,107 days of emergency alert button coverage and $65,820 in disposable supplies.
