The Cleveland County Family YMCA programs help develop self-esteem and self-confidence, building lasting relationships, and increased civic engagement. Services are offered at affordable fees for the community at large, with financial assistance available for those who cannot afford the full fee.

Membership/Wellness/Disease PreventionThe YMCA views health holistically: Health needs to include spirit, mind, and body. Our YMCA has identified the growing obesity and diabetes rates in our state as a critical social issue that must be addressed. Programs such as Livestrong, Enhanced Fitness, Moving for Better Balance and Diabetes Prevention are designed to help people develop new life skills. This is accomplished by setting realistic goals for self improvement,disease prevention through an active lifestyle, proper nutrition, stress management, and health education.At the YMCA we promote interaction, teamwork, development of moral and ethical behavior, social skills and self esteem. We serve all ages, abilities, races, nationalities and religions and provide financial assistance to anyone who truly demonstrates the need. In 2024 we served over 17,000 persons in our community and provided financial assistance in excess of $80,000.00 in membership and program opportunities.

Healthy Child Care and Safety ProgramsThe YMCA childcare programs offer high quality child care activities for preschool and school age children from all segments of our community.We offer a variety of childcare programs, both full and part time, which provide a safe and nurturing environment where children, youth and teens can develop self-esteem, good values andappreciation of charitable service. The YMCA works with other agencies, churches, and schools to ensure that no children are turned away because of the inability to pay. Up to 60% of participants are provided assistance. Woven into the fabric of the YMCA mission is a commitment to strengthening families.Our childcare programs include devotions, homework time, community service projects, 2nd grade water safety to 12 elementary schools, educational field trips, and healthy lifestyle training. Our programs are always presented with our character traits of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. We partner with community agencies such as Cleveland County Government, Comunities in Schools, Atrium Healthcare System, and Cleveland County Schools to name a few . In 2024 we served over 1700 children in our community and provided over $238,000.00 in financial assistance.

Children, Youth, Adult Sports and AquaticsYMCA's are more than the four walls of their facilites; We are partners in building strong communities for members and non-members alike. Our YMCA promotes community development through all inclusive physical and sporting and aquatic activities for the whole family. The YMCA philosophy of our Sports and Aquatics Programs are extemely unique.We will deliver quality programs for our members and non-members which promote a fun family environment based on these philosophies: Everyone plays, balanced teams, positive coaching, good sportsmanship, 2nd grade water safety to 12 elementary schools,and open registration to anyone who shows interest and enthusiasm to compete. Sports and Aquatics can be a valuable tool in the development of physical, mental, and emotional well being while providing the ability to enhance new skills including working as a team, winning with humility, losing with pride and forming lasting relationships. Our goal is for each child and adult to develop their full potential mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually while gaining self-confidence, responsibility, and leadership. In 2024 we served over 3000 Children and adults and provided over $47,000.00 in financial assistance.
