The anderson area YMCA is a charitable, community service organization that includes men, women and children of all ages, abilities, incomes and religions. We are dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities by putting christian principles into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong values, leadership development, community interaction and international understanding. All persons are welcome at our YMCA, regardless of their ability to pay. Founded and led by volunteers from our community; anderson area YMCA has been at the heart of our community for more than 50 years. Our YMCA achieves its purpose by: helping people grow personally, build self-esteem and self reliance. Encouraging adults and children to develop values for daily living and develop moral and ethical behavior based on judeo- christian principles. Improving personal and family relations and assisting people to commmunicate and cooperate with others. Encouraging an appreciation of diversity of demonstrating a respect for people of different ages, abilites, incomes, races, religions, cultures and beliefs. Helping individuals to become leaders and supporters and to work toward a common good. Assisting individuals of all ages to develop specific skills, acquire new knowledge and ways to grow in spirit, mind and body.
