Grantmaking - our grantmaking spans the community's broadest areas, from arts and culture to community development, and provides critical operational and programmatic support for the network of nonprofit activities in our 2-county service area and beyond. In 2024, the waccamaw community foundation dispersed 232 grants and scholarships totaling $2,319,523. These grants were distributed as follows: 59 grants totaling $556,269 supporting various educational pursuits, 19 grants totaling $219,159 supporting neighborhood and community development, 61 grants totaling $712,541 supporting human needs, 5 grants totaling $73,925 supporting environmental efforts, 27 grants totaling $112,902 supporting health initiatives, and 43 grants totaling $468,159 in support of religious organizations, 11 grants totaling $78,949 in support of the arts, 6 grants totaling $17,167 supporting animal needs, and 1 grant totaling $3,000 for other philanthropic efforts.
