United way provides a comprehensive community focus on providing much-needed support to community organizations, many of which could not maintain their public service efforts without the financial assistance and leadership example they receive as a supported agency. United way also provides a means of communication so that the general public, through its donations and specifications, voices an opinion on those programs and organizations which are important to a particular community. Those programs include, but are not limited to youth organizations, senior citizens activities, and others who may be in need financially.
