Bath county community hospital (BCCH) operates a 25-bed critical access hospital, twenty-four-hour emergency services, primary care, and a select range of diagnostic services, rehabilitative services, wellness center gymnasium, and specialty clinics. In addition, bath community hospital holds various events, free of charge, throughout the year that benefit the health and wellness of the community. In 2024, bath county community hospital (BCCH) had total admissions of 175 with total inpatient days of 1,436, which includes swing beds. BCCH also had 3,120 emergency department visits and 12,399 hospital outpatient visits. Outpatient clinic visits totaled 24,817, of which, 4,181 were in hot springs, 20,632 in covington, 1,261 in millboro, and behavioral health services which included 2,473 clinic visits. BCCH served a total of 50 patients through its charity care/financial assistance program.bath county community hospital (BCCH) offers a range of free healthcare services through clinics, health fairs, and organized community events. Our health education initiatives cover important topics such as dementia, heart disease, scam prevention, diabetes management, medication safety, fall prevention, behavioral health, bullying prevention, and blood pressure screenings. Each year, we also conduct training sessions on administering naloxone to combat opioid overdoses.in collaboration with major local employers, BCCH hosts annual community and company health fairs that provide vital vaccinations, including flu, RSV, and covid-19 shots, as well as health screenings such as cholesterol and blood sugar panels and prostate tests, often at minimal or no cost. We are committed to supporting our veterans by offering free breakfasts and physicals annually, and we proudly participate in the virginia values veterans (v3) program and the military and corpsmen program.our hospital staff engages with the community by providing educational handouts and on-site blood pressure checks during various activities, such as free youth sports physicals for students in grades 7-12, food bank distributions, and participation in the annual "night out against crime." additionally, we distribute protective gear at local events like the "bike rodeo, organized in partnership with local law enforcement and the department of parks and recreation.recognizing the needs of caregivers, we have formed a caregiver support group to assist those caring for family members and loved ones. We also offer nursing scholarships and student shadowing opportunities to inspire young people interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. Furthermore, BCCH provides free advanced life support (als) and pediatric advanced life support (pals) training to support our new daycare facility, with classes open to the public.our commitment to health promotion includes advocating for vaccinations and educating the community on many important topics to include the dangers of heat exposure and medication interactions, as well as emphasizing the importance of annual screenings like colonoscopies and mammograms. We actively participate in the annual drug take back day and have collaborated with local law enforcement to install a permanent medication collection box in the community.BCCH partners with various organizations that share our mission to enhance community health and wellness. Our collaborations focus on addressing needs identified in the community health assessment (cha), particularly in highland and bath counties. Key partners include bath and highland county public schools, valley community services, rockbridge community services, local health departments, the virginia department of health, care portal, local law enforcement, members of the faith-based community, safehome systems, INC., blue ridge area food bank, local rescue and fire departments, parks and recreation, library, VA department of veterans services, valley program for aging services (vpas), carilion health heartnet, and the newly established BCH stop bullying task force, which aims to educate the community on understanding and preventing bullying behavior.
