Educate: washington area women's foundation ("WAWF") invests in the power of women and girls of color in the washington, DC region. WAWF opens doors to opportunity through grantmaking and advocacy and has awarded more than $17 million in grants to over 225 community-based organizations in the region. As part of its efforts to support women and girls from birth to the boardroom, and informed by maternal health and nonprofit sector landscape analyses, the foundation is expanding its programs. WAWF believes that by increasing resources to, and recognizing the leadership of, women and girls, they will ignite needed change.

Early care and education: through a funders collaborative model, WAWF works to increase the quality and capacity of and access to early care and education in the washington, DC region. The collaborative is committed to and invests in projects that improve early childhood systems and infrastructure; ensure families have access to early education programs; and help early childhood educators to effectively meet the needs of all children.

Young women's initiative: WAWF aims to reduce systemic and institutional barriers to success and enhance opportunities for young women of color who are disportionately impacted to reach their full potential. WAWF's strategy is to center the experiences and voices of young women and girls to effect positive and lasting change in their communities by putting them at the helm of advancing solutions to the problems they encounter in their lives and communities.
