The Company operated the hospital through all of 2021 and through July 20 of 2022 when the Company ceased operating the hospital in order to transition the services from a standalone hospital to an integrated clinical program operated out of the System's other hospitals in order to enhance continuum of care, improve patient experience, and lower patient cost. At such time the Company initiated a process of winding down hospital operations, including continuing to collect its exempt function revenue (i.e., net patient revenue) in a charitable manner in accordance with the billing and collection requirements set forth in Section 501(r) of the Internal Revenue Code (i.e., not engaging in extraordinary collection actions and providing financial assistance to any families qualifying under the Company's financial assistance policy).
