UNMC Physicians directs its resources toward giving leading physicians the resources to provide excellent healthcare to patients across Nebraska and beyond. UNMC Physicians continues to lead the region through a focused mission including exceptional patient care, education that empowers, cutting edge research, and an emphasis on giving back to the community. With more than 50 specialties and sub-specialties, UNMC Physicians provides specialized services and the latest in treatment options to its patients. Our physicians not only treat patients, but they educate future physicians. Many of our doctors trained and now teach at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. They, along with experienced nurses, allied health professionals, and business support personnel, are dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of our community. Charitable care is a high priority, and we make treatment available to all persons who present themselves for care, regardless of race, creed, lifestyle, or ability to pay. During fiscal 2024, UNMC Physicians serve more than 200 thousand patients on its clinics and over 259 thousand patients through inpatient and other ancillary service lives. In addition, UNMC Physicians supports many community-based health programs serving those in need through donated funds, supplies, physician time, and nurse time. UNMC Physicians provided more than 9 million dollars, at cost, in charitable care to the underserved and those unable to pay for medically necessary healthcare services. In addition, over 53 percent of UNMC Physicians net patient service revenue came from government funded health insurance programs, such as Medicaid, Medicare and Tricare. While these government programs do not cover the full cost of health services provided, UNMC Physicians transferred over 4.5 million dollars to the college of medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in support of its clinical, education research mission.
