Bluewater healthcare network (BHN) is organized to govern, own, operate, and maintain an integrated health care system for the care and treatment of indigent, sick, infirm, and injured persons, and to generally provide for the preservation and promotion of health and health care in and around the michigan counties of sanilac, tuscola, huron, and lapeer, as the board of directors may from time to time determine. BHN aims to provide support to its related parties through conducting centralized activities and functions that are essential to carrying out the supported organizations exempt purposes. Services include compensation and benefits, strategic direction, and standardization across all healthcare mediums that include patient care, communication, health management, patient outreach, compliance, streamlined processes, and training. BHN also provides centralized leadership and administrative services, including utilization review, medical staff services, risk and compliance, marketing, finance, health information management, community and employee education, patient accounting, materials management, human resources, quality, infection control, employee health, emergency preparedness, information technology, clinical it, practice management, prior authorization, care coordination, population health, laundry, and courier services. By centralizing these departments, BHN is able to share expertise, reduce redundancy, strengthen communication, preserve resources, and effectively enhance efficiency, financial stability, and quality of care.
