Acc continues to evolve from a start-up cdfi intermediary to high-performing loan fund. Since 2015, when it first began lending, acc has raised $60 million and deployed $53 million in loans to acc members. In 2024, acc lent $8.75m to members who financed 20 loans; 40% of the loans were made to small businesses owned by women and/or persons of color; 35% were loans made to veteran-owned businesses.acc received a $1.5 million grant from the appalachian regional commission to continue the successful opportunity appalachia technical assistance program begun in 2020. Since then, opportunity appalachia has supported 86 projects seeking to raise $700 million in financing and create 4,700 quality jobs. To date, these projects have raised over $154 MM in financing, including $33 MM raised by projects taking a phased development approach. Our investment priorities include downtown development, housing, manufacturing, it, healthcare, education, food systems, clean energy, and heritage tourism and recreationprimarily in rural communities.also, acc's data analytics hub has 1) supported a cohort of acc members seeking to increase their lending activities and enhance their relationships with small business owners in underserved appalachian markets; 2) identified energy efficiency projects in appalachia, and 3) disbursed $55 million in grants provided by various partners to support small business owners impacted by hurricane helene in september 2024.acc distributed $500,000 through the veteran loan fund, and it joined forces with a national non-profit to begin raising $25 million to bridge the digital divide throughout appalachia. In late 2023, acc joined forces with regional and national partners to apply for the clean communities investment accelerator (ccia) , part of the u.s. Environmental protection agency's (EPA) historic $27 billion greenhouse gas reduction fund (GGRF). This action marked the expansion of acc's mission to increase access to capital for the rapid deployment of low- and zero- emission products, technologies, and services and to create meaningful economic opportunity in energy communities. In april 2024, EPA announced that acc was approved for a $500 million ccia grant. This grant and all other grants awarded under GGRF are on hold as the courts deliberate the new administration's intention to terminate the GGRF contracts.
