The organization is engaged in advocacy, coalition building, educational, and public relations activities that will provide a forum and resource for the creation, discussion, and execution of innovative economic policy. 2024 program service accomplishments ==================================== the economic innovation group (EIG) publishes economic research reports and policy analysis and makes them available for educational purposes to the general public on EIG's website: WWW.EIG.org. EIG's key achievements for 2024 include: research focused on economically distressed communities and boosting economic dynamism. ------------------------------------------------------------------- EIG published five major research projects in 2024, including "the american worker project" featuring original EIG research, public opinion research, and a wide-ranging series of guest essays; a reimagined version of our flagship distressed communities index with a powerful interactive map that illuminates our country's economic divides; a report and digital interactive titled "the great 'transfer'-mation" illuminating the nation's reliance on income from government; a report titled "heartland visas: a policy primer a national public opinion survey exploring american voter's opinions about high-skilled immigration; and a digital interactive map tracking state noncompete laws. Policies to support economically distressed communities and boost economic dynamism. ------------------------------------------------------------------- EIG worked with congress on bipartisan policies, including: to boost mobility for american workers by restricting the use of non-compete agreements; to strengthen retirement security for tens of millions of hardworking americans through a long-term savings program; and to boost high-skilled immigration to communities struggling with demographic decline. EIG regularly updates the opportunity zones activity map, an interactive digital portal highlighting innovative investments, funds, and initiatives launched across the country, and leads a working group of wide-ranging stakeholder organizations to share opportunity zones best practices, technical information, developments, and facilitate peer-to-peer learning. EIG worked with a bipartisan group of policymakers to improve the opportunity zones policy and ensure its alignment with congressional intent. Outreach and events ------------------------------------------------------------------- EIG expanded its reach with the acquisition and relaunch of "the new bazaar" podcast and the "agglomerations" newsletter. EIG convened and participated in economic research and policy conversations with a wide array of partners, stakeholders, and policymakers throughout the year focused on economic research and policy issues, including place based policy; efforts to support entrepreneurs and small businesses; understanding the challenges faced by american workers and distressed communities; promoting inclusive access to capital; spotlighting the importance of high-skilled immigration; and other foundational economic issues.
