Professional med team ambulance (pro-med), is a nationally accredited not-for-profit community service that was created in 1986. Pro-med responds to 9-1-1 emergency calls in muskegon county. It also responds to requests for non-emergency ambulance transportation between health care facilities in muskegon and ottawa counties. Pro-med's advanced life support (als) ambulances are outfitted with cardiac monitoring equipment, defibrillators and approximately 30 medications that can stabilize life-threatening conditions. Als ambulances are staffed 24 hours a day with experienced and caring paramedics who deliver patient care under physician-approved medical protocols. They also can communicate directly with emergency department physicians while at the patient's side.
