Through the "partners in children's health" program, helen devos children's hospital offers mclaren northern michigan access to a regional system of health care for children, designed to enhance care "close to home" for children and families.to meet the state of michigan's trauma care system regulations launched on december 31, 2017, mclaren northern michigan is working to become a level ii trauma designated center. This means expanded services, treating more conditions, and seeing more patients in petoskey without having to transfer them to another hospital. Mclaren northern michigan started to pursue level ii designation in 2014, and has taken all of the necessary steps to be verified as a trauma center. According to the state of michigan, mclaren northern michigan is already considered to be functioning as a level ii trauma center and can address the clinical needs of trauma patients with level ii injuries (such as long bone fracture or a closed head injury).
