The conquer cancer grants & awards program has been recognizing excellence in clinical research, quality care, and teaching in the field of oncology since 1984, when the program originally began under the purview of asco. Conquer cancer funds the entire spectrum of research activities related to cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and outcomes research in all cancer types, and supports progress by funding cancer researchers at all stages of their careers, enabling oncology's best and brightest to pursue promising research. Conquer cancer and asco have funded more than $191 million to support grants & awards to over 9,300 recipients in 90 countries. Highlights of 2024 research activities and accomplishments include: *advanced clinical research award (acra): $1,350,000 provided three (3) three-year awards to physician-scientists committed to support clinical cancer research with a patient-oriented focus. Awards supported focused on breast cancer research. *career development award (cda): $4,200,000 provided twenty-one (21) three-year awards intended to support clinical research of clinical investigators who have received their initial faculty appointments and are establishing independent clinical cancer research programs. *young investigator award (yia): $4,560,000 provided ninety-one (91) one-year awards designed to encourage and promote high-quality research in clinical oncology by supporting the research of promising investigators during the transition from a fellowship program to a faculty appointment. *global oncology young investigator award: $300,000 provided five (6) one-year awards to early-career investigators to support research in global oncology and to develop the next generation of researchers to address global health needs. This is a mentored award and the research project is conducted under the guidance of a scientific mentor. *international innovation grant: $39,500 provided two (2) one-year awards in support of novel and innovative projects that have the potential to reduce the cancer burden in local communities, while also being potentially transferrable to other low- or middle- income settings. *long-term international fellowship: $115,000 provided one (1) one year grant whichenables an early career member oncologist in a low to middle income country and their mentor in the united states or canada to extend the collaboration through a research fellowship at the mentor's institution.through its everygrant program, conquer cancer utilizes its skills and expertise in grants administration and program management to collaborate with other organizations to develop and deliver programs that make a difference to cancer care teams and patients everywhere.

Funds from conquer cancer are used to support asco's scientific and educational programs through both meetings and electronic education offerings. Highlights of the professional educational and scientific programs supported by conquer cancer and presented to the public in 2024 include the following: * asco annual meeting: the asco annual meeting is a global gathering of more than 44,000 participants where oncology professionals connect, collaborate, and inspire. The meeting is known for advancing the oncology field and offers an experience unlike any other, bringing together the best minds to shape the future of cancer care. *gastrointestinal cancers (gi) symposium: this is one of the premier multidisciplinary gi cancer scientific and educational meetings. The symposium offers the latest innovative science, solution-focused strategies, and multidisciplinary approaches in gi cancer treatment, research, and care. *genitourinary cancers (gu) symposium: the gu symposium offers an unparalleled meeting experience that helps attendees to remain at the forefront of advances in gu cancer care. As one of the only world-class symposia of its kind, the symposium unveils paradigm-shifting discoveries and fosters collaborations that will transform gu cancer care.

See schedule o:*quality care symposium: this premier meeting focuses on improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of cancer care delivery, bringing together the entire clinical care team to explore the latest advancements in quality improvement through research, education, and discussions. *merit and abstract awards: $294,000 provided two hundred eighty-nine (289) merit awards to promote clinical research by awarding young scientists whose research is addressed in high quality abstracts submitted to asco meetings with an opportunity to present their research at asco scientific meetings and disease specific symposia. $40,000 provided forty (40) abstract awards to the presenting authors of the 40 highest-rated abstracts selected for presentation at the asco breakthrough meeting that focuses on how innovations in technology create both solutions and challenges in patient care and research.
