Delta dental of minnesota foundation's (the foundation) focus is helping minnesota communities thrive by addressing gaps in oral health services, fueling oral health prevention and education, building the oral healthcare workforce for tomorrow, strengthening connections to community health, and advancing oral health science and innovation. The primary action areas are: a) supporting communities in fostering and experiencing cultures of good oral and overall health; b) improving access to age-appropriate oral health services for all children; c) supporting the delivery of oral health care by sustainable, interprofessional and culturally skilled teams; and d) supporting research investigating clinically significant advancements to oral health science and innovation.

The foundation distributes dental kits free of charge to 1st grade students in minnesota. Schools apply for kits in the fall and the foundation works with outside vendors to procure kits. During 2024, more than 53,000 kits were delivered to 643 schools based on fall 2023 enrollment.
