Sohcn has facilitated and continues to facilitate additional grant funding from the united states department of agriculture rural development, appalachian regional commission, and federal communications commission to develop a fiber optic network available to health care providers in a thirty-four (34) county region of southern ohio and is working on applications for additional funding from other federal, state and private sources to: - deploy broadband technology to support health care innovation and general economic development; - expand telemedicine availability; - implement electronic health record systems across a wide array of providers in the region; - participate and support regional, state and national health information exchanges. - create and utilize region-wide patient databases for research purposes; and - develop and test effectiveness of trial programs to improve health care effectiveness and efficiency.
