MMC provides acute care services to patients. An acute care setting is an institution or medical facility providing patients with short-term treatment for an acute injury or illness. Acute care facilities are beneficial to patients with acute conditions because they are able to focus on giving quick, efficient care to their patients. Inpatient acute care is the system of care reserved and provided for patients whose medical conditions necessitate their stay in a treatment facility while undergoing treatment. Patients suffering from disease or recovering from injury or invasive surgery typically make up the largest group of inpatient acute patients. Conditions under this group include wound care, amputee services, strokes and other traumatic brain injuries, arthritis and cancer. Inpatient care can be quite expensive for patients. The funding is provided both by patients' insurance policies as well as government subsidy to the center's budget.
