With offices in reno and las vegas, nevada humanities creates public cultural programs and supports humanities-focused projects statewide that articulate the nevada experience and facilitate the exploration of ideas that matter to nevadans and their communities. Founded in 1971 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1974, nevada humanities is one of 56 independent, nonprofit state and jurisdictional humanities councils affiliated with the national endowment for the humanities. Nevada humanities programs include: grantmaking program, nevada humanities exhibition series, nevada humanities literary crawl, las vegas writes, las vegas book festival, nevada humanities awards, online nevada encyclopedia, humanities at play, nevada center for the book, humanities heart to heart, halcyon publication series, sagebrush to sandstone and special initiatives.
