See schedule ointiman theatre (the theatre) uses the power of story and education to activate dialogue, confront inequity, and build collective joy. In the summer of 2021, intiman became the professional theatre-in-residence at seattle central college (SCC) in the heart of the capitol hill arts district adjacent to downtown. This new, groundbreaking partnership with SCC included a permanent home for the theatre administrative offices, shops and rehearsals, with productions happening at the erickson theatre and broadway performance hall on the SCC campus. __as part of this agreement, intiman now operates an associate of arts degree emphasis in technical theatre for social justice at the college, which launched in september 2021.intiman was founded in 1972 and won the 2006 tony award for outstanding regional theatre, the 2018 and 2024 gregory award for outstanding musical, and a 2019 mayor's arts award. With a vision to create and share exceptional theatrical experiences while fostering a vibrant community rooted in curiosity, empathy, and bravery, intiman places its audiences, artists, and students at the heart of everything they do. The theatre's values are to be inclusive, encourage empathy, embrace evolution, strengthen racial equity, cultivate an environment of trust and transparency, and to engage the local community. In an effort to expand access, their "free for everyone" program gives away free tickets for every performance to anyone who signs up, and to local students and community organizations. Equal importance is placed on educational offerings, including the starfish project: a free-of-cost technical theatre mentoring program primarily serving seattle's low-income high school aged youth, and the AA degree with seattle central college.
