The morris hospital auxiliary plays an integral role in the provision of local healthcare by engaging our community in support of morris hospital through volunteer opportunities and fundraising events. In 2024, the organization provided morris hospital with 20,717 hours of volunteer service and $215,000 in funding from fundraising events and gift shop proceeds. The auxiliary hosted two special events this year, the auxiliary gala and golf tournament. Held in february, the gala raised more than $140,000 in net proceeds for the hospital's new cardiac cath lab. The annual golf outing was held in september and raised more than $45,000 in net proceeds for patient transportation, lifeline and medication dispensing programs. The auxiliary is always very grateful to the many attendees, sponsors and community members who generously make these lifesaving services available at morris hospital. The auxiliary gift shop continued to support the hospital as well, donating $30,000 from sales to benefit the new morris hospital cardiac cath lab. While fundraising events and gift shop sales are the heart of auxiliary fundraising, service remains an important part of the mission. In 2024, morris hospital auxiliary volunteers provided over 6,700 patient rides through our transportation program, assisted more than 200 seniors and low-income community members through our morris hospital ship counselors; assembled over 5,000 admission packets for MH patients; sewed, knitted and crocheted baby caps and christmas stockings for newborns in our family birthing suites; planned, planted & maintained our new serenity garden; welcomed and screened thousands of visitors at the main entrance reception desk; spread the word about our free transportation program by participating in local parades, assisted with the special events; stewarded the rhythm of our youth program by performing cardiac screenings in area high schools; sewed lap blankets for cancer patients at our radiation therapy center; and more. While the needs of the hospital have changed during its century-plus existence, the auxiliary's commitment has not wavered as its role grows more significant with each passing year.
