During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, Cancer Awareness through Research and Education (CARE) approved total research funding of $786,000, which included $38,000 in direct donor-designated contributions.Per the allocation approved by the CARE Funding Committee and Board of Directors, contributions were designated as follows:$397,000 to Mayo Clinic, including $23,000 in direct donations.$389,000 to HonorHealth Research Institute, including $15,000 in direct donations.Payments of $374,000 were issued to each institution during the fiscal year to fulfill these commitments.Funds provided to Mayo Clinic were restricted to two approved research projects:1.Pathogenesis of MYC-Overexpressing Acute Leukemia identifying high-risk patients and developing more effective treatments.2.Fast Neoepitope Prioritization and RNA Nanoparticle Dendritic Cell Vaccines for Solid Tumors advancing personalized cancer vaccine development.Funds provided to HonorHealth Research Institute were restricted to two funding requests encompassing four interrelated research projects:1.Plant EV, Nanoparticle Silicon, VFI Studies2.Uveal Melanoma ResearchBoth Mayo Clinic and HonorHealth Research Institute are required to submit annual progress and expenditure reports to CAREs Science and Funding Committee. Grants are restricted for the specified research purposes, with no more than 25% of funds allocated to labor and benefit costs.
