Healthy Living/Memberships:Our YMCA is committed to fostering holistic wellness for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Through a variety of wellness programs, we aim to reduce the risk of chronic disease and support individuals in achieving and maintaining positive health outcomes. As our community faces challenges such as obesity, mental health concerns, and chronic illnesswhile families strive for work-life balanceour facility remains accessible, affordable, and inclusive to all, regardless of faith, background, ability, or income.Last year, our EnhanceFitness program helped 119 older adults lead more active and independent lives through evidence-based group exercise and fall prevention initiatives. Thanks to our Annual Strong Kids Campaign, participants received this support at no cost.In 2024, the YMCA served 7,147 members, including 2,733 members aged 65 and above. Our facility provides a welcoming space with pools, fitness equipment, group fitness studios, and recreational courtsoffering diverse opportunities for individuals to engage in physical activity and prioritize their well-being.

Youth Development/Childcare/Youth Programs:Our YMCA is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, providing opportunities for them to explore their abilities and grow into their full potential. From infancy through adolescence, children participate in enriching programs such as swim lessons, day camp, youth sports, and child carefostering friendships, confidence, and essential life skills.In 2024, our child care services supported 314 children, while 1,036 children participated in swim lessons and youth programs, promoting healthy living and skill development. Our dedicated child care staff are trained to support children's cognitive, physical, and social growth, creating a nurturing environment where kids feel connected and families feel supported.Through YMCA youth development programs, children gain skills and experiences that extend beyond our wallspreparing them for success in school and in life.

Social Responsibility:The YMCA is committed to fostering inclusive communities where everyone can thrive. Through initiatives like our Annual Strong Kids Campaign, the Alexandria Area YMCA provided $36,746 in financial assistance to 556 individuals in 2024. Additionally, 214 people received life-saving training in First Aid, CPR, and AED, equipping them with essential skills to respond to emergencies both within the YMCA and throughout the community.For over a decade, the Alexandria Area YMCA has served as a cornerstone of the greater Alexandria area, growing from humble beginnings into a vital community hub. Guided by our mission to put Christian principles into practice, we remain dedicated to strengthening youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.Looking ahead, we are preparing for the future with the Building Connections Capital Campaign, which launched in 2024. This initiative includes a 12,000-square-foot facility expansion and a new stand-alone child care center, creating spaces that will connect generations and provide opportunities for young children, youth, teens, and active older adults to grow and thrive together.
