Partners in this area help stabilize families in times of crisis as well as provide human needs such as food, shelter and safety, funded programs include comprehensive emergency assistance, energy assistance, resource assistance, transportation and counseling.

Community building fund: this is a special fund which provides immediate funds to partner agencies if there is a crisis situation within a funded program and/or a new program is developed to address an emergent need. Partner agencies are encouraged to collaborate with other not-for-profits agencies for this funding. Cash (creating assets, savings and hope) for cayuga county- cash is an united way initiative that offers free tax preparation for low to moderate income individuals and families. IRS certified volunteers help these households build stronger futures by preparing their new york state and federal tax returns free of charge.
