Across our 31 active sites, we provided inclusive and impactful services to individuals ranging from infancy, to 101 years of age.key highlights of our 2024 service reach include:- serving over 18,000 members at our middletown and monroe branches- providing daily care to 1,100 children across six summer day camps- engaging 1,400 children weekly in youth sports, music, and aquatics programs- supporting 1,000 children through our before and after school "club kid" programs- enrolling 160 children in our first step preschool & universal pre-k- hosting 1,500+ adults weekly in group fitness and wellness programs- engaging 40+ teens through YMCA youth & government and teen leaders- providing safe recreation for over 200 children monthly through kids night out events- supporting 50+ youth in port jervis through our beat the streets initiativethrough these efforts, the YMCA of middletown continued to strengthen families, improve health outcomes, promote youth leadership, and serve as a hub of community connection and care.youth development programs:before & after school care - club kidin 2024, the YMCA of middletown operated 22 licensed and affordable before and after school programs throughout orange county - 21 of which were located directly within local public schools.these programs served an average of approximately 975 children daily, offering a safe, enriching environment for school-age youth between the hours of 7-9am and 3-6pm.in middletown, the YMCA's dedicated liberty street center for youth programs housed the club kid program. Mid-city transit provided transportation from all five middletown elementary schools and the middle school to this facility. The liberty street location meets hepa food safety standards and participates in the child and adult care food program (cacfp), allowing the y to offer fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks daily. Proximity to the main branch also gave children access to swimming, sports, and music instruction as part of their daily care.each club kid site emphasizes academic support, social-emotional learning, physical activity, and arts enrichment, allied by trained YMCA staff who understand the importance of building strong relationships with children and their families.preschool & universal pre-k (upk)the YMCA first step preschool and universal pre-kindergarten (upk) program served 160 children between the ages of 3 and 4 throughout 2024. These programs, held at the liberty street center, focus on school readiness, language development, creative play, and early literacy and numeracy.our curriculum includes music, art, STEM exploration, and physical education - including weekly swim lessons at our highland avenue branch. Thanks to growing partnerships, we expanded to serve universal pre-k students from the minisink valley school district, in addition to our regular preschool families. The program celebrates the diversity of our surrounding community, creating a welcoming environment that fosters inclusion.summer day campsin summer 2024, the YMCA successfully operated six-day camps serving over 1,100 children per day in orange and sullivan counties. These camps offered safe, engaging environments where children created lasting memories and enjoyed enriching summer experiences.- camp funshine & summer squad (middletown): 265 children/day, ages 3-15- wee-discover preschool camp (monroe): 60 children/day, ages 3-5- camp discovery (harriman state park): 240 children/day, ages 5-15- camp robbins (walden): 250 children/day, ages 5-15- town of thompson day camp (sullivan county): 220 children/day, ages 5-15camp activities included swimming, music, sports, archery, arts & crafts, fishing, and boating. Our camps promoted teamwork and confidence, while offering critical summer care to working families.teen leadership - YMCA leaders clubour YMCA teen leaders club provided 27 middle and high school students with opportunities to grow through service, leadership training and community engagement. These youth organized food and coat drives, served meals during holidays, volunteered at YMCA events, and led activities such as our annual haunted house and angel giving tree.through this program, teens learned to lead with empathy, collaborate with peers, and understand their role in building stronger communities while focused on leadership traits.

Aquatics, sports, music & arts, and healthy living:aquatics programsthe YMCA of middletown and south orange family YMCA continued to lead the county in swim instruction and aquatic safety, delivering life-saving skills and confidence to hundreds of youth, teens, and adults each session.in 2024:- we provided group swim lessons to approximately 650 children per session each week- we offered 40 private lessons per week at both branches- our water exercise classes attracted 40-50 adults per class- we continued to play a central role in lifeguard certification and training throughout orange county- our competitive swim team, the barracudas, hosted at the minisink valley school district, served an average of 70 swimmers, helping youth improve their stroke techniques, sportsmanship, and team values.the YMCA's two indoor pools also supported lap swim, family swim, and aquatic fitness, attracting participants from across the county of orange and sullivan.the YMCA provides comprehensive programming in sports, music, and the creative arts, empowering youth to build physical literacy, boost self-confidence, and nurture their creativity and imagination.youth sportsin 2024, the y served over 550 children weekly in structured sports programs at our middletown and monroe branches.
